Living in the bubble you may have thought the trend graph would have plateaued by now, but as you can see Google Trends tells us people are still increasingly looking for information on social media.
Even lifestreaming gets a look in. That said, the big spike is probably me using Google to find a business use for it. Can’t find one and I still stand by my earlier comments.

Social media is definitely here to stay. Once people come out of the “bubble” which most people have done unless they live under a stone, it’s often very hard to stop engaging in social media. I for one don’t know of anyone who has quit facebook, or regrets blogging.

I agree, that Social Media is here to stay. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs and more are increasingly common for effectively reaching audiences. However companies still have concerns regarding Social Media (lack of knowledge/ employee productivity/ security issues).

I think it was Vincent Mosco who said that when a technology (or media I guess) enters the realms of banality – i.e. people stop discussing it and accept it as the norm – then it’s become truly transformative, and cemented its place in society.
Funny how for those of us on the inside, it seems to have already happened – but it’s gonna get really interesting when the buzz dies down and it becomes universally adopted (as much as it can be anyway). When do you guys reckon that’s likely to happen? Next 10 years?
