Verilly amusing ... although not all Aussies are that bitter, I would agree about the collective chip on their shoulder.

There is a series of Commonwealth Bank ads playing here at the moment based around the idea of a US agency pitching ad concepts and missing really obvious cultural differences. Similar concept, but much more mainstream and nowhere near as edgy (although I guess that is CBA versus 42 Below.

Anyway, doesn't quite get the note right in my very humble opinion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx_kxp3R2oU

Anyways, hear, hear re the Gruen Transfer. Would love to see something like this in the UK, but not sure 'the industry' could be this self-depracating. Just working my way through the DVD of the first series. Send me your address SBW and I will pop it in the mail for you when I am done.

Aussie humour (pronounced 'yoomar') is bitter. I actually thought it was rather sharp.

Good on them for cutting to the chase about industry awards and trade magazines. Needs to be greater disclosure and self-criticism about this fluff.

PS - yep re The Gruen Transfer comment above - watch it.

Funny stuff. Looks like it's 42 Below's style to rip the p!ss out of other former members of the commonwealth anyway: http://www.42below.com/#/section/propa/

'Oh yeah Canada, that little island in the US...'

I like the brazen offensive.

Hah, that's brilliant, good on the Aussies.

Stephen, you'd love this Australian show The Gruen Transfer, which is a bit like Have I Got News For You, only all about advertising and PR. Try and chase down the DVD, it's brilliantly funny http://www.abc.net.au/tv/gruentransfer/

True. And the Aussies also have king of the mockumentary: Summer Heights High.

If my theory proved right, insh'allah, this activity could be rather ingenious, as it hits their target market beautifully: advertising wankers in London, Australia and New Zealand.

Hmm.

Hint Number 4: Virtue, Vice's new creative agency out of Melbourne. They work with 42-below. 42-below is renowned for their clever advertising. Vice is renowned for their smart arse gags.

http://mumbrella.com.au/youth-mag-vice-launches-creative-agency-virtue-2605

This is just the kinda oh-so-ironic stunt both 42-below and Vice would pull to generate publicity.

I may well be wrong but I'm on the case to try and figure it out. Something is awry. The owls are not what they seem.
