CIPR Northern Conference 08

{ Tags: , \ Sep21 }

On Friday I delivered two workshops at the CIPR Northern Conference; this year held at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester – last year it was held in Newcastle. The underlying theme of this year’s conference was ‘reputation’ and my workshop focused on reputation from an online point-of-view and was titled, Coming Out From the Shadows & Managing Reputation Online.

It was another great event by the CIPR. I met quite a few new people and managed to catch up with the regulars too. The Labour Party Conference was taking place the following day so the Manchester Police were out in force just down the road, including snipers on every roof of the surrounding buildings.

Here’s my presentation which I’ve also added it to the new Presentations section on the 3W PR website.

    How did you get involved in speaking at these events. Did they contact you or did you approach them.

    Is something we could be interested in getting involved in.

    Even though there was no context to the slides as I’m sure there was lots of in-depth discussion and each slide, I ‘get’ it and what the presentation was on so I’m sure that everyone else got it too. Thanks for sharing!

    I still don’t like the way CIPR charges so much for those events though, and the payment method needs sorting out too…

    Hi Ben,

    I can’t comment on the price of CIPR events in London but as we look after their stuff in the North West I thought it only right to respond.

    The Northern Conference was priced at £165 for members and featured keynotes and workshops that would put many events in London to shame.

    It’s also worth saying that you’d be charged more than our entrance price as an additional fee just to access presentations at some of our competitors events. This was included in the ticket price for the Northern Conference and quite rightly so.

    I do agree with you that many events are overpriced and hopefully we’ll be continuing to challenge this by offering great content at a fair price with our own branded Don’t Panic events.
