From Bobby Johnson at the Guardian. “Dubbed Battle at Kruger, the video shows a pride of hungry lions attacking a herd of buffalo near a watering hole. They catch a small calf and wrestle it into the water. But things take a twist when a crocodile tries to snatch the calf for itself. A brief tug of war ensues, before the lions drag the calf away.”
“But the situation becomes even more incredible when the buffalo return to take on the lions. Charging the predators, they successfully chase the cats away – even goring one and tossing it into the air – before the calf manages to get up and return to its family.”
Seriously, this is breathtaking! No big documentary budget; not even David Attenborough – just a few guys with a video camera.
Unbelievable!

Everyone commenting on YouTube seems very happy for the buffalo–while I can’t disagree that the little guy is quite a trooper, what about the lions! They need to eat too. Maybe I’m just a cat person. Hee. Great video!

I agree. And if the lions (or crocodile) got him then that would of been fine too. That’s nature.
It’s just the sheer pleasure of seeing the little fella get away after all that. I was sure he was a goner. Great to see the buffaloes come back for one of their own.
In a word ‘amazing’!
