Warner's using Shozu

{ Tags: None \ Feb20 }

It seems as though Warner Brothers Music are embrasing Web2.0 like no other. I’ve already commented on how they’re using social networking sites like Myspace, TextAmerica, Flickr, WINKsite et al to promote the Australian music duo, The Veronicas. And it was from this post that I’ve just received a comment telling me that the pop sisters have been using the free mobile application, Shozu, to directly upload live video footage of the events surrounding their launch from their camera phones to TextAmerica.

The comment came from a guy called Rax, who either works for Shozu or is a PR representative for the company. The latter I believe. Rax says: “This was a landmark day for mobile video blogging in general. The fact that big name acts such as The Veronicas are using ShoZu to capture these amazing events is testament to how important mobile blogging is becoming to youth culture.”

Indeed, Shozu is a cool application. You can send photographs to Webshots, Flickr and TextAmerica, and if the site allows it, upload video too. You can also tag and add descriptions to your photographs before or after you’ve uploaded them. I could be wrong, but I’m sure that Shozu is a UK-based company. Anyone? I’ve just un-installed from my SPV as it wasn’t allowing me to record video footage for any longer than 10 seconds which was a minor annoyance, but it’s still cool none-the-less.

I think it’s only a matter of time before the music industry are using an assortment of online tools like Warner is doing now. Already it’s happening, but not at the level of Warner. They’re really taking the lead on this one.

    Thanks for your interest in ShoZu!
    Yes indeed we are a UK based company called Cognima (www.cognima.com) and ShoZu is our photo sharing application available for a wide variety of phones.

    Feel free to try it – it’s free

    ShoZu

    Hi Stephen,

    Thanks for your reply. The video issue you are having is a known bug in the current SPV release and will be ironed out for the next version due in a couple of weeks.

    To work around this in the meantime, open the ShoZu application, choose Menu > Settings > Capture. Set ‘New videos’ to ‘Skip’. This will stop prompting you to upload immediately after capture, however, will allow you to upload full length videos from within the ShoZu app itself.

    Hope this helps in the meantime!

    Cheers,
    Mark
