Auburn students have a blog start

{ Tags: None \ Jun12 }

From a link I got off some guy with Wet Feet. The Auburn University in the US has its PR students already blogging. Students are given their own WordPress account and they are required to blog twice weekly about PR related issues.

This is great for three reasons:

1. They’ll develop their writing skills.
2. They’ll learn about different aspects of blogging and its impact as a new communication channel.
3. PROs are asked to comment on their blogs, which in turn will give them real experience of speaking to professional communicators.

One such person who has been commenting a lot on each of the student’s blogs is Jeremy Pepper from the excellent Pop! PR blog. PR as an educational subject gets a lot of flack regarding if it can be taught or not. It’s good to see someone supporting and encouraging PR students instead of criticising or disregarding.

    Hey Stephen,

    Dropped back by reading RSS feeds and then this like appeared once again in my referrers. So, I thought I’d let you know that a new batch (about 60) will begin blogging tomorrow. Classes for spring semester kick off and I’ll have about 35 or more creating new blogs at PRblogs.org.

    Hope you will drop by and give the students a visit.

    All the best for a fantastic 2006 to you!

    Robert
